Today's Turkish helps you learn Turkish a few phrases a day. This page explains what the app stores, why, who helps us run it, and how you can delete your data. We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
What we store
- Your learning progress: the phrases in your list, your answers and review history, your level and your reminder time. This is what lets the app plan your daily practice and keep your progress if you reinstall or change phone.
- Your account, if you make one: your email address and a securely hashed password. You can use the app without an account; it then creates an anonymous guest account for this phone.
- Text and photos you add: when you use “Add something you found”, the text or photo is sent to our server and to OpenAI (see below) to find useful phrases. We keep the phrases and example sentences that are added to your list. We do not keep your photos.
- A shared word list: words and phrases found in what learners add may be kept in a shared list of Turkish words and meanings, so we can answer the next learner without asking the AI again. This list does not include your name, email or account.
- Usage counters: how many AI requests your account, your phone (a random ID the app creates) and your network address made each day, so we can keep the service free and fair. These counters are only used for limits.
- Simple app events and feedback: for example that the app was opened or a day’s practice was finished, and any feedback or word reports you send us. We use these to understand what works and to fix problems.
Who helps us run the app
- OpenAI reads the text and photos you add, checks sentences you write, and explains words. OpenAI processes this data to give us an answer and, under its API terms, does not use it to train its models. The app asks for your permission before it first sends anything to OpenAI, and you can turn AI help off at any time under Profile. With AI help off, nothing you write or photograph is sent to OpenAI.
- MongoDB Atlas stores the data described above.
- Vercel hosts our server.
We do not share your data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you use the app. Usage counters are kept for a short time and are only used for daily limits. When you delete your account, we immediately delete your progress, your list and your account details. Feedback, word reports and app events you sent are kept, but without anything that links them to you.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and data in the app under Profile. You can also email us at j.aghazadehh@gmail.com and we will delete it for you.
Children
Today's Turkish is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. For important changes we will also tell you in the app.
